EVA GILLIAM Videographer
...and Field Producer, Editor, Media Trainer, Story-teller
So, who am I?
I am an American who has spent the last 22 years living and working in Africa in radio, television, video and photography, as a camera woman, editor, writer and field producer.
Following three years in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with Radio Okapi and the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission there, I enrolled myself in a Master's in Film and Television in Cape Town.
Just over a year later I was back in the DRC to cover the elections, this time as a freelancer, learning the ropes of covering news and current events, and building experience (and finishing my dissertation in the side!)
I've freelanced since then, in news, then videography as we now refer it - covering events, projects, activities, 1st-person narratives, broader more complicated environmental stories, heart opening and informative stories.
What I've learned is this: If you take the time to listen, and open your peripheral vision - everyone and everything has an interesting story to show and tell. And being able to capture those stories is a privilege.
